Michelle LeMay – Co-founder, Conductor and Musical Director

Michelle is a musician and music teacher based in Wicklow and South Dublin. She holds a B-Mus degree from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, USA. Her degree was instrumental focused in which she studied all instruments and conducting. She came to Ireland as part of a placement teaching music in St Fergal’s National School in Bray. After she completed her degree she came to live here permanently.

Michelle is widely experienced in teaching all the wind instruments and has taught and conducted many orchestras in various schools including St Bridget’s Cabinteely, Loreto on the Green, St Patrick’s Loreto Bray and Loreto Dalkey. She is currently a music teacher in Loreto Foxrock. Michelle teaches flute, clarinet, recorder and cello privately. Michelle plays flute in the Greystones Orchestra.

Lisa Scanlan – Co-founder and Volunteer Tutor

Lisa plays violins, piano and recorder and has taught all three instruments privately to young beginners/improvers. She is a dedicated amateur musician and has played violin with the Greystones Orchestra for 20 years and with the Dargle String Quartet.

Lisa was Administrator and Welfare Officer for the annual Dublin Youth Orchestra chamber music summer camps for 16 years and loves to see young people enjoying both orchestral and chamber music. She works full-time at a secondary school in Bray.

Valerie Kelly – Volunteer Tutor

Valerie plays violin with the Greystones Orchestra and with the Dargle String Quartet. Valerie is a dietician in Temple Street Children’s Hospital and brings a wealth of experience of working with children to our weekly rehearsals.

Katerina Cusson – Recorder Teacher and Volunteer Tutor

Katerina is an accredited IACAT registered music therapist currently working in the areas of mental health, developmental health, special education, and dementia care. Much of her work is with children and adults with autism, with the aim to promote their personhood, to nurture good mental health, to build up their core strength and promote healthy relationships.

In her work with individuals, groups and families she uses clinical improvisation, singing familiar songs, lyrics analysis, and receptive listening, as well as grounding exercises and group bonding activities. As a music educator Katerina has taught pre-instrumental music initiation classes at the Bray Music Centre as well as providing private piano tuition.

Aoife Broxson – Co-founder

Aoife is a violin and piano teacher from Bray, Co. Wicklow. She holds a B-Mus degree from University College Dublin and a Diploma in Community Music and Group Teaching from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

Aoife has worked as a piano teacher in St. Gerards Junior School in Bray for more than twenty years, and also teaches classroom music to all year groups there. She taught Group Violin in St. Patricks National School, Bray for a number of years.

Aoife is a long-time member of the Greystones Orchestra and plays viola in Bray-based Dargle String Quartet.
